Project

Project Overview

This is an overview of the two national projects (QuINT in Moonshot Goal 6 by JST and QuREP in a project by MIC) that our center QIC is coordinating.

1.Moonshot R&D

Development of Quantum Interfaces for Building Quantum Computer Networks (QuINT)

  • PM & PI: Prof. Hideo Kosaka (YNU)
  • FY 2020 – 2025
  • Project sponsor: Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST) & Cabinet Office (CAO)
  • Joint institution: YNU, AIST, NIMS, QST, UTokyo, RIKEN, NICT, KyotoU, TMDU

Goal 6:Realization of a fault-tolerant universal quantum computer that will revolutionize economy, industry, and security by 2050

2.Project by MIC (Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications)

Quantum Repeater Technology (QuREP)

  • Coordinator & PI: Prof. Hideo Kosaka (YNU)
  • FY 2020 – 2024
  • Project sponsor: Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication (MIC)
  • Joint institution: YNU, AIST, NIMS, QST, UTokyo, RIKEN, NICT, KyotoU, TMDU

R&D for construction of a global quantum cryptography network

3.ASPIRE (Adopting Sustainable Partnerships for Innovative Research Ecosystem)

Diamond spin qubits for quantum applications (DIAMONDQTECH)

  • Japanese Principal Investigator: Dr. Takeshi Oshima (Director of the Takasaki Institute for Advanced Quantum Science, National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (QST))
  • German Principal Investigator: Professor Fedor Jelezko (Professor at the Institute of Quantum Optics, Ulm University, Germany)
  • FY 2025 – 2029
